I am a professional clipper. Hate these. Too light. They tend to bounce on the skin.

Look at your clippers BEFORE leaving the store

I didn’t really know where else to put this, but I decided on here, so other clipper buyers can double check their stuff before purchasing. I’d ordered online for in-store pick up and the box looked a tiny bit wonky. I didn’t think much of it, but got to my car and noticed there was hair stuck in the corners of the box- I decided to open it and sure enough, the blade was dirty and had hair in it as well. I brought the clippers back in and one of the employees said “yeah someone brought it back because they didn’t work on her dog”… you tell me this AFTER, when you definitely knew? Charged full price for them? And didn’t even attempt to properly clean them? Just crazy. Too dang expensive to buy used. So shady, Petco.

Works great

Works great on my golden doodle. The only problem is sometimes the on/off switch doesn't lock into place and it can shut off while you're clipping. I still give it 5 stars though because it doesn't happen often.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Finally found one that worked

Great clipper so far. This has been our 3rd clipper purchase as the first 2 just didn’t work for my 2 shih tzu, bichon mixes. One has curly hair and the other has more fluffy like poms hair so Gad no issues going through both hair types. For the cost I was surprisingly shocked to open the box and find that this did not with a pouch to keep the accessories and clipper all together. Have only used it twice so far.

Yes, I recommend this product.

how hot does this get while using

  1. Some people have given remedies for the blade heating problem. Personally, I make it a point to ALWAYS use Wahl Professional Stainless Steel combs/guards on my Andis clipper. The red one (shortest comb in the set) is plenty short to get close to the skin without having a hot bare blade touch the skin. If it’s an issue of not being able to get through thick hair with a comb attached or a mat can’t be broken up with specialty brushes and tools for breaking up mats, then only use a bare blade for very short periods of time, preferably with a #30 or higher blade. #10 or less can easily nick a dog’s skin if you’re not careful.

Are there combs to fit this?

  1. I tried several over the years. The best set I found was the Wahl stainless steel comb set that comes in a plastic box to keep them organized and protected. You can find it under $40 online (I don’t believe Petco carries it). Best if used with a Wahl Competition Series #10 blade. I found the combs don’t work well with all blade sizes.  #10 is perfect, though.

I have a standard poodle with felted fur. Will this work, and how do I get the blades resharpened?

  1. I ha e a goldendoodle with the same type fur. The fur needs to be brushed out well, and clean and it does work. I've never had them sharpened. I'm considering getting another one though, to switch out while grooming, because it gets hot.

What is the weight of this clipper

  1. 2.3 pounds

I have a Bichon and his hair is long and tangled, ( You cannot brush it ) I want to be able to use the shears to just buzz him. NOT repeatedly, Just one time get down to near his skin and just cut the rest with ONE pass. Will these sheers do that ???

  1. It can be done as long as you can get under the tangles. Honestly, you will want to go over it more than once if you want even fur. It will look pretty rough if you dont. It will get the job done. Good luck!

What are the two blade speeds on this clipper?

  1. High and low?

Can you use it on a dog whose fur is matted?

Where do you purchase the blades

Can it be used on cats

Is this clipper set rechargable or electric with cord?

        1. Corded
