I love this food, but the date on the package is past the use date. I ordered in November and put i in my cupboard. Just now took it out to open and feed my cats. I looked at the date, and it is past the use by date. We all need to check these dates when the food is received. In the trash it went.

We have a finicky cat and trying to find healthy food that it will eat was a chore. Acana has fit the bill. We have tried each flavor available and our cat like all but the ocean version. Not sure why, it looks the same to me, but she knew. I like that it is grain free and she get that from her treats.

It takes some time to change flavors but worth it.

I feed acana cat food now so this was just a flavor change, however it is taking my 2 a little longer than i expected to warm up to this. It has 75% meat protein vs. 65% of the flavor i had been feeding so i was sure they would devour it right away. They are beginning to eat it so its a keeper. I like the thought of feeding my cats a good quality protein source and as far as price comparison to the other quality foods is great.

My local pet-healthfood-store did not stock the usual high-meat grain-free brand I have been getting, but I desperately needed more food and this one seemed the most similar (down to the red lentils!); one of my cats is sensitive to most common filler ingredients. When I mixed this with their old food, both cats picked out the pieces of this food. Guess I made a good choice!

Our picky senior cat loves it!

We adopted a senior Maine Coon six months ago; when we got him he was almost completely shaved (serious skin/fur problems when he came to the shelter). He had some skin and digestive issues that I thought could be due to allergies (fillers in major brand dry food). I got a bag of Meadowlands as part of a welcome kit from a local pet store; when I got the food home he immediately went for the bag and tried to tear into it. After only a month of feeding Meadowlands his allergies cleared up and his coat grew in extremely soft and healthy (and faster than we expected). If we mix it with other dry food he will literally pick out the Acana kibble and leave the rest.

    Yes, this formula is suitable for kittens. Post weaning (after 5 weeks old) feed 1/4 cup for each 1lb of body weight. At 20 weeks (5 months) feed 1/8 cup for each 1lb of bodyweight. Feed as an adult at 52 weeks.

Why is there no taurine in your cat food? Cats need taurine in their food to prevent blindness and certain kinds of heart disease. I do see it in dogs: Acana Beef & Pumpkin Dry Dog Food, Acana Lamb & Apple Dry Dog Food, Acana Pork & Squash Dry Dog Food

    Its because there is alot of good quality meat in it. Meat has natural taurine in it. Low quality dry kibble is a bad choice for your cat (feeding your cat strictly dry kibble is a bad choice even if its "high quality") fwith regard to taurine. Those kinds of cat food is made with lots of grains and little natural taurine. The taurine that they use to compensate for that lack usually comes from artificial sources. When you're visiting the grocery store or pet shop, check the list of ingredients on the label. If you see that it includes taurine as an ingredient, it is artificial because it has been added. Remember that this amino acid should already be present in natural food.
