As part of our ongoing commitment to offer pet parents a one-stop solution to convenient, affordable, high-quality vet care, Petco entered into an agreement to purchase Thrive Pet Healthcare’s 50% stake in the parties’ joint venture in 98 full-service vet hospitals. That means every THRIVE inside a Petco Pet Care Center will become Vetco Total Care.

This change will allow us to provide the vet care you expect under the same brand you count on for pet essentials, grooming, training and more. It’s a part of our mission to bring together everything your pet needs to live happy and healthy all in one place.

We’re not putting anything on hold. Your pet’s care remains our top priority, no matter what. Through this transition, you can schedule appointments via any of the options below:

  • Book online at
  • Book on the Petco app (select Services tab and choose vet)
  • Call your hospital directly (go to for your hospital contact number)

Before your appointment: Once you book, you will receive a confirmation email and SMS regarding your appointment. Please arrive at your vet hospital 15 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment time to check in.

During your appointment: Checking in to your pet’s appointments remains the same. Stop by the front desk when you arrive, and our team will get you all checked in.

You bet. Expect to get the same reminders about upcoming appointments and important health milestones that help you stay on top of your pet’s health and wellness.

On April 6, 2022, your THRIVE+ membership billing was cancelled.

We understand your pet’s coverage through this transition is important, so we will honor your membership benefits through May 31, 2022, at any THRIVE Affordable Vet Care hospital location inside a Petco Pet Care Center.

You’re probably wondering if there’s another membership plan you can join. There is, and it’s called Vital Care.

Vital Care is Petco’s health & wellness membership program that includes unlimited routine vet exams, $15 monthly rewards, 20% off dog grooming or cat litter, 10% off nutrition and more. For just $19.99 a month, it’s a plan that pays for itself. An annual commitment is required.

As part of this transition, your pet’s information will automatically move to our new system. Next time you come in for a visit, your vet will have access to your pet’s medical history.

You’ve still got them. Visit your hospital as scheduled for your additional booster doses, pending vaccinations or other services from your package.

You can continue to get prescription refills at your hospital or order them on For home delivery, please go to to upload your prescription and get refills delivered to your door.

Please contact your hospital to get specific information on prices for specific services. Our goal is to keep the cost of care similar to what you would have paid before this transition.

We will continue to provide the same high-quality comprehensive care that your THRIVE hospital has offered.

We offer coupons for a free exam for new pets throughout the year. If you have received a coupon either through email or have a coupon from our website, we will be happy to honor it.

Yes. With proof of offer or coupon, we will honor any active coupons or promotions you may have received.

We will provide you the invoice and the required documentation for filing a claim with your insurance provider. You will have to pay for the service during your visit and file a claim with your insurance company afterward. If you are Trupanion customer, we will be discontinuing the direct pay option that you may have used in the past at your THRIVE hospital.
