Two main types of fish: freshwater and marine

Freshwater

Common varieties: Betta, Tetra, Guppy, Barb

These fish come in different sizes and enjoy spending their days in habitats ranging from small desktop tanks (with no filtration system) to spacious aquariums (with filtration systems).

Make their homes beautiful with a wide variety of décor and plants.

If you’re looking for an aquarium that requires less maintenance and has lower operating costs, freshwater fish are the way to go.

Tip: Betta fish are very popular because of their bright colors and relative ease of care.

Marine

Common varieties: Clownfish, Dottyback, Tang

These fish have extremely vibrant colors and patterns.

They prefer habitats that are as close to life in the ocean as possible. Different elements they may like include fish, coral, fauna and rocks.

Keep in mind, their aquarium requires additional equipment compared with a freshwater aquarium and may be a bit more difficult to maintain.

29 gallon tanks with filtration systems are the recommended minimum for larger marine aquariums.
