Biography
From the plains of Oklahoma where I completed my veterinary education, to the vast biomes of sub saharan Africa, my goal has always been to pursue veterinary medicine through as broad of vantage point as possible. I have worked with large African wildlife; from transport to herd management in contrast to my daily job of preventative/internal medicine in a traditional veterinary practice.
Additionally, I pursued additional education and certifications to become a Traditional Chinese Veterinary Acupuncturist, and in the process of completing my herbal certifications as well.
I believe that veterinary medicine is most powerful when we can integrate traditional and alternative therapies in a custom manner for each patient. In my spare time, I serve as a board member for the Marine Mammal Stranding Network, and help with local wildlife rehabilitation. I have completed parasite research on Chimpanzees both domestically in captivity, and in sanctuary environments in central Africa. I also relish time at home with my 3 rescue pups as we explore the local mountains and backcountry.
I am passionate about the human/animal bond, and strive to educate my clients on nutritional, preventative and other medical steps that will provide the longest, healthiest life for their companion.
