Returning items purchased at our Petco or Unleashed by Petco stores

If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you can return it to one of our retail locations. Items purchased in-store can be returned with receipt within 60 days for a full refund in the original form of tender. Returns without a receipt with a valid identification or after 60 days are eligible for a merchandise credit equal to the lowest price at which the returned products were sold, excluding: grooming tools; filters or pumps; pet medication or vitamins; and pest control treatments.

Returning items purchased on petco.com

Our return policy is simple. For your convenience, you can return merchandise to a Petco or Unleashed by Petco store or to one of our petco.com warehouses.

Returns to Petco or Unleashed by Petco Stores

Your local Petco or Unleashed by Petco store will gladly accept returns of merchandise purchased through petco.com within 60 days of the initial shipment date.

Before returning merchandise to a Petco or Unleashed by Petco store, print a "Returns to Store Receipt." (Please note that the packing slip that came with your shipment cannot be used for a return to a Petco or Unleashed by Petco store, as it does not contain pricing information.)

  • Log in to My Account.
  • Under "Order History," select the specific order you wish to return.
  • Click on "Print a Returns to Store Receipt."
  • Print the "Returns to Store Receipt" page.
The "Returns to Store Receipt" may also be accessed by visiting petco.com/storereceipt. Please have your order information available as you will be prompted to enter your order number, the Billing Address Last Name, and the Shipping Address ZIP Code.

If you had placed an order prior to 12/15/2015 and need to check your order status or print your return to store receipt, please contact Customer Service at 1 (877) 738-6742.

You can also pull up your order confirmation on a mobile device in order to provide the store with your order details.

No shipping charges will be refunded at the store. Please email us or call toll free 1 (877) 738-6742 to obtain applicable shipping credit.

Exchanges can be made at any Petco or Unleashed by Petco store location. If exchanging for a different item, you will receive credit for the amount paid as listed on your "Returns to Store Receipt." If you received an incorrect item from petco.com, you must return the item to the petco.com warehouse for proper credit. Personalized products cannot be returned to a Petco store.

For returns made after 60 days, you will be issued a merchandise credit for the paid price or allowed to exchange the product for something else.

If you do not have a receipt, you will be issued a merchandise credit for the listed store price or allowed to exchange the product for something else.

PayPal:

For returns made before 60 days: Purchases made through PayPal may be returned to any Petco or Unleashed by Petco store location for a refund on your credit card or allowed to exchange the product for something else.

For returns made after 60 days: Purchases made through PayPal may be returned to any Petco or Unleashed by Petco store location for a merchandise credit or allowed to exchange the product for something else.

When returning an order purchased through PayPal to a petco.com warehouse, the applicable credit will be applied directly to your PayPal account.

Orders Placed Through a Third Party (Amazon, eBay, Rakuten.com):

Purchases may be returned to a Petco or Unleashed by Petco store for merchandise credit only or allowed to exchange the product for something else.


Shipping Charges & Times

Shipping costs are determined by the total weight of the order and by the shipping method selected. Your total shipping charges will be displayed on the Checkout page, prior to submitting your order.

Estimated shipping charges will be displayed in your Shopping Cart after you have signed in to your registered online account. Final shipping charges will be displayed during Checkout, once a shipping address has been entered and a shipping method has been selected. For all other customers, the Shipping cost will be displayed in Checkout once the Shipping Address is entered and the Shipping Method selected.

  • Free Standard Shipping automatically applies to your qualifying minimum online purchase subtotal of $49. No promotion code necessary. Subtotal refers to amount of order before taxes and shipping. All Free Shipping is based on Standard Shipping rates.
  • Free Shipping Exclusions: Cat litter, dog litter, ice melter, wild bird food, live fish & rock, aquatic gravel and accents; crickets, live food and frozen food; Repeat Delivery orders and subscriptions; out-of-stock items, Donations, Petco or Unleashed by Petco Gift Cards and eGift Cards; items shipped through white glove delivery or LTL delivery; orders exceeding the maximum weight limit of 300 lbs.; and applicable taxes. Additional exclusions may apply and will be noted on the Product Detail page and/or Shopping Cart.
