Instructions
Important Safeguards

Thank you for choosing the Aquarium Heater. The Aquarium Heater maintains your aquarium at a constant ideal water temperature regardless of room temperature. Please take a few moments to read these instructions and become familiar with the installation procedures.

Instructions

  1. Attach suction cup to heater at the position indicated.
  2. The heater must be placed vertically hanging on the aquarium. Secure it at a place where there is good water circulation. This will ensure even heat distribution and the most effective operation of the thermostat.
Note: No part of the heater should come in contact with the aquarium gravel, rocks, or other decorations.
  3. Attach suction cups by pressing them firmly onto the aquarium wall. For best results, the aquarium wall should be free from algae.
Important: The water level in the aquarium must be kept above the water level indicator line on the heater.
  4. Allow heater to remain in the aquarium for 15 minutes before plugging it into the wall outlet.
  5. Arrange a drip loop to prevent water from traveling along the cord and coming into contact with the receptacle.
    See Important Safeguards.
How To Set The Temperature
  1. Plug in the power cord using a drip loop to prevent water from traveling along the cord and coming into contact with the receptacle. See Important Safeguards.
  2. The most common aquarium temperature for tropical fish is 78 degrees (F). To set your heater to this temperature, simply turn the control knob to the center point of the adjustable range to gain 78 degree (F) located between 70 degree (F) and 85 degree (F). If a temperature other than 78 degrees (F) is required, turn the temperature control knob to the appropriate temperature.
  3. The final temperature of the aquarium is dependent on the placement of the heater and the circulation of the water in the aquarium. The temperature control knob will allow you to set the aquarium at the approximate temperature, but a fine adjustment may be necessary.
Important Considerations
  1. When doing water changes to your aquarium, or if for any reason the heater needs to be removed from the aquarium, first unplug the power cord and wait 15 minutes to allow heater to cool before removing it. Please pay attention to special protecting function while processing above. In case you carelessly forget to unplug the heater when taking the heater out of the water, the special protecting function will automatically engage to cut off fuse if over-heating occurs up to a certain temperature.
Note: Heater will no longer be useful after special protecting function has been effected.
  2. Should the water temperature be below the value at which the temperature has been set, the heater will automatically switch on and the indicator light will remain lighted while the water is being heated.
Note: This type of heater is for indoor aquarium use only. It should never be plugged into a wall outlet while out of the water.
Important Safeguards
Caution:
To prevent possible electric shock, do not immerse heater below the water level line.
Warning: To guard against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed, including the following:

Read and Follow All Safety Instructions
Danger:
To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken in the use of aquarium equipment. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs yourself; return the appliance to an authorized service facility for service or discard the appliance.

    • If the appliance shows any sign of abnormal water leakage, immediately unplug it from the power source.
    • Carefully examine the appliance after installation. It should not be plugged in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet.
    • Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it is malfunctioning or if it is dropped or damaged in any manner.
    • To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or receptacle getting wet, position aquarium stand and tank to one side of a wall mounted receptacle or plug. A drip loop should be arranged by the user for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance to a receptacle. The drop loop is that part of the cord below the level of the receptacle, or connector if an extension cord is used, to prevent water traveling along the cord and coming in contact with the receptacle. If the plug or receptacle does get wet, don't unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to the appliance. Then unplug and examine for presence of water in the receptacle.
  1. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  2. To avoid injury, do not contact moving parts or hot parts such as heaters, reflectors, lamp bulbs, and the like.
  3. Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never yank cord to pull plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.
  4. Do not use an appliance for other than intended use. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.
  5. Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to the weather or to temperatures below freezing.
  6. Make sure an appliance mounted on a tank is securely installed before operating it.
  7. Read and observe all important notices on the appliance.
  8. If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord for less amperes or watts than the appliance rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it will not be tripped over or pulled.
