Esbilac 2nd Step Puppy Weaning Food is a highly digestible complete food for young growing puppies from 4-8 weeks of age. Our weaning food is a creamy transitional cereal developed to follow Esbilac or for easy transition from mother's milk to solid food. Its completely balanced nutrition meets the nutritional requirements for growth and has superior digestibility and palatability.
Mixing Directions:
Divide the daily feeding amount into three or more feedings.
Determine the amount to be fed to the puppy at each feeding using the weight chart provided. Reconstitute powder by using 3 parts water to one part water (use included measuring device for accuracy) for the first few days. This will make a thin gruel. Offer only small amount and remove the uneaten portion within 2 hours. As puppies grow, decrease the amount of water mixed with the powder until weaning food is an oatmeal consistency. Fresh, clean water should always be available for drinking.
Feeding Guidelines:
1/4 lb. puppy, 2 1/2 teaspoons per day
1/2 lb. puppy, 4 teaspoons
1 lb. puppy, 5 ½ teaspoons
2 lb. puppy, 8 teaspoons
3 lb. puppy, 1/4 cup per day
5 lb. puppy, 1/3 cup per day
Esbilac 2nd Step has been formulated to meet the nutritional needs of young puppies being weaned from mother, or orphaned bottle-fed puppies progressing to solid foods. For best results, the product should be mixed with ready-to-feed liquid Esbilac or reconstituted powder Esbilac to give the consistency necessary to get good food consumption. Esbilac 2bd Step should be lapped out of the bowl. If Esbilac is not available, water may be used. Fresh, clean water should always be available for drinking.
It is recommended that Esbilac 2nd Step be used until puppies are seven or eight weeks old when they can be fed commercial puppy or dog food as desired. All Changes in diet should be made gradually over a period of one week.
Your veterinarian should be consulted for advice about the care and feeding of puppies. More or less food may be needed by individual puppies to satisfy their food requirements for optimum performance. Weigh the puppies at least once a week to monitor weight gain and adequacy of feeding.
Esbilac 2nd Step is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for growth.
