Perky-Pet Oriole Feeder
Attract orioles to your backyard! 36 ounce capacity plastic hexagonal feeding bottle. Nectar feeder features three feeding stations, no-drip feeding base, and orange slice décor to attract orioles.
Feeder Preparation: Perky-Pet suggests you wash the feeder bottle and base before filling. Do not use extremely hot water or load in your dishwasher. After cleaning, simply attach the three station perch to the bottom of the base by using the provided screw--don't overtighten. Place the orange decals over the three feeder holes being careful to align the decal holes with the feeder holes. Then fill the feeder with mixed nectar, screw on the base and quickly flip the unit over. Guide the hanging wire though the cap and hang from a point that can support the weight of the feeder. At first, hang the feeder away from your house, preferably in a deciduous tree. Once birds are using the feeder, you can gradually move it closer to your house, deck, or other viewing location.
Cleaning: The feeder should be cleaned at least twice a week. Do not use extremely hot water or load in your dishwasher. Normally, warm water only is required to clean all parts. A diluted vinegar solution can be used if additional cleaning is required. If ants are attracted, use the AntGuard available from Perky-Pet.
Nectar Preparation: For best results, use Perky-Pet Instant Nectar. If Instant Nectar is not available, a solution of one part sugar to six parts water may be used. Boil and stir until sugar dissolves completely. Thoroughly wash your feeder between fillings. Keep your feeder filled. Orioles may not return to a feeder they have found empty.
When To Take Your Feeder Down For The Season: It is important to the welfare of orioles to keep nectar in feeders until at least one week after the last oriole has been seen feeding. Do not use this feeder when temperature drops below 32 degrees (F) or feeder damage may result.
Warning: Do not use saccharin or any artificial sweeteners. These products have no nutritional value for orioles and could harm them. Do not use honey or other related products as they can also be harmful or even fatal.
