With Lafeber's Premium Daily Diet, you don't have to worry about your bird eating only one type of seed. Each pellet has all the nutrients your bird needs for a full life. The recipe begins with a high-quality blend of natural ingredients like ground corn, soybean meal, oat groats, and human-grade whole egg--the world's most digestive form of protein. Then, they fortify the mix with essential amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. Lastly, they stir in the taste of molasses and form it all into a pellet.
The result is a 100% edible, highly digestible pellet that's virtually waste and mess free, and leads to improved health, greater stamina, better feathering, and longer life. If you're concerned about good health and long life for your bird, begin with proper nutrition. Begin with Lafeber's Premium Daily Diet.
Lafeber's Pellets Feeding ScheduleIf you have never used pellets before, please read the following. If your bird is familiar with our pellets, you may skip the conversion instructions.
Birds are shy about new foods. And if your bird has eaten seed all of its life, pellets can be a drastic change.
Please do not immediately switch seed eating birds to pellets.
Converting Birds To Pellets
Often, birds seem to need a short period of introduction, then convert to Lafeber's Premium Daily Diet from seeds quite rapidly. Here are some methods to help the conversion:
- Mixing with current diet. This involves mixing the pellets with your bird's current food. Start by making pellets about 10% of the food, then gradually increase the amount of pellets each day until pellets account for the entire diet. This method is often done over a period of two to four weeks, depending on your bird.
- Avi-Cakes. Perhaps the best method is to use Lafeber's Avi-Cakes, a pellet/seed mixture bound together with a natural coating. Birds are attracted to the seeds and soon end up eating the pellets. A perfect conversion food.
- Fill a dish with pellets and leave it all day, while giving your bird seeds for short periods each morning and evening. Decrease the amount of bird seed gradually until pellets account for the entire diet.
