Underfed Dog: Ribs are highly visible. Increase the amount you are feeding. After two to three weeks, compare again. Adjust until dog exhibits ideal body condition.

Ideal Body Condition: Can feel and see outline of ribs. Dog has a waist when viewed from above. Belly is tucked up when viewed from the side. Maintain current feeding regimen.

Overfed Dog: Dog has no waist when viewed from above. Belly is rounded when viewed from the side. Decrease amount you are feeding. After two to three weeks, compare again. Adjust as necessary.

3 - 12 lb. dog: 1/3 - 1 cup per day
13 - 20 lb. dog: 1 - 1 1/4 cups per day
21 - 35 lb. dog: 1 1/4 - 2 cups per day
36 - 50 lb. dog: 2 - 2 1/3 cups per day
51 - 75 lb. dog: 2 1/3 - 3 cups per day
76 - 100 lb. dog: 3 - 3 2/3 cups per day
Over 100 lb. dog: 3 2/3 cups plus 1/3 cup for each 10 lbs. body weight over 100 lbs.

Pro Plan recommends that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow him to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity, and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily.

Making the Switch to Pro Plan
Although you'll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow seven to ten days to ease the transition from his current food. This will help prevent stomach upsets. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more of Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively.

Feeding for Reproduction
Pro Plan Performance provides the extra nutrition needed by reproducing females in stages of gestation and lactation. Food consumption may vary during gestation, so feed amount needed to maintain the pregnant female's ideal condition. Food intake may double or even quadruple during lactation.

Feeding Weaning Pups
Start puppies on moistened Pro Plan Performance as early as they begin to nibble at solid foods, generally three to four weeks of age.

Feeding Growing Pups
Feed pups (to six months of age) all of the moistened Pro Plan Performance they will consume at intervals throughout the day. If fed dry, Pro Plan Performance may be kept before pups at all times.

Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container for your dog daily.
