Dog Feeding Guidelines
These guideline amounts are a starting point and your dog may need more food depending upon age, activity, and temperament. In order to reach an optimal body condition, you may need to adjust food intake. If your dog appears overweight or obese or requires less food to maintain optimum body weight than the amount listed in the feeding guideline, Iams suggests a reduced fat diet like Iams Weight Control Large Breed. This chart represents the total recommended volume of food per day. You should divide the total cups recommended by the number of times you feed your dog per day to get the actual portion size per feeding.
- Large breed puppies, reaching 51 - 90 lbs. at maturity, should transition to Iams Large Breed Adult Formula at 12 months of age. Giant breed puppies, over 90 lbs. at maturity, should transition to Iams Large Breed Adult Formula at 24 months of age.
- Remember to have clean, fresh water available for your dog at all times.
- Because Iams Large Breed Dog Food is complete and balanced, you do not need to add vitamin or mineral supplements.
- When introducing Iams Dog Food, gradually mix it with your dog's current food over the course of four days.
50 - 60 lb. dog: 2 - 2 1/3 cups per day
60 - 80 lb. dog: 2 1/3 - 2 3/4 cups per day
80 - 100 lb. dog: 2 3/4 - 3 1/3 cups per day
