These guideline amounts are a starting point and your cat may need more food depending upon age, activity, and temperament. In order to reach an optimal body condition, you may need to adjust food intake. If you cat appears overweight or obese or requires less food to maintain optimum body weight than the amount listed in the feeding guidelines, Iams suggests a reduced fat diet like Iams Weight Control. This chart represents the total recommended volume of food per day. You should divide the total cups recommended by the number of times you feed your cat per day to get the actual portion size per feeding. To best maintain a consistent, reduced urinary pH all day long, feed Iams Original Cat Food to your adult cat on a "free choice" basis. Fill your cat's bowl with the recommended feeding amounts each morning and allow your cat to nibble throughout the day.
