Assembly Instructions Not Using Flow-Thru: 1. Insert plate connector into the filter plate. 2. Place the telescoping ring over the plate connector. 3. Place the uplift tube inside the telescoping ring. 4. Insert the airline through hole in elbow and attach the airstone into the airline (see illustration). 5. Guide airstone into the uplift tube, dropping it down to secure elbow to uplift tube. Adjust the airstone to approximately filter-plate level. 6. To install the disposable carbon cartridge, simply place the bottom notch into the grate of the elbow and then slide top into place. (Note: The top of the cartridge is smooth.) 7. Note: Filter plates are designed to fit two different tank sizes. 8. Put filter plate and uplift tube assembly into aquarium and adjust height of elbow by raising or lowering uplift tube to keep elbow below water level. Replace carbon cartridges and Discard-a-Stones every 2 to 3 weeks. If you need a longer uplift tube, you can purchase the desired length of 1" tubing at your local pet store.
Instructions for flow-thru filter plates with or without power head. Pre-planning is important-We recommend a dry run on dry ground before you remove knockouts and flow-thrus. If you remove more than you'll be using, you may render the unit inoperable. 1. Position filter plate so the flow-thrus butt together and the uplift tube assembly knockout you are going to use will be at the back of the aquarium. 2. Remove the corresponding flow-thru knockouts and connect plates with flexible connecting rings. 3. Remove ONLY One tube assembly knockout to be used for the power head. 4 (See illustrations above for the following steps.) Insert ONLY One plate connector into the filter plate. 5. Place telescoping ring over the plate connector. 6. Place the uplift tube inside the telescoping ring. 7. Adjust height and insert power head. Made in U.S.A. Printed in China.
