Your dog's lower digestive tract contains both good and bad bacteria. L. acidophilus (and several others used in the formula) supplement the good bacteria on a daily basis. To maintain the effectiveness of the good bacteria, Eagle Pet adds it at the end of the cooking process, after the food has cooled.
Inulin & Beet Pulp: These ingredients provide food for the good bacteria, allowing them to thrive. It is not a food source for the bad bacteria (e. coli and salmonella). Feeding Instructions
It is more economical for you, and better for your dog, if you feed this diet dry. If you do moisten it, use warm water. Never use hot water and never place in a microwave as it will destroy the beneficial microorganisms.
For pet owners who wish to include an extra touch, add Eagle Pack canned food, with two to three times more meat then most other brands.
Remember to keep fresh water available at all times. Wash water and food bowls daily. Do not overfeed.
Amount of food consumed will vary based on breed, age, activity level, and environment.
Standard 8 oz. measuring cup holds approximately 3.8 oz. of this formula.

Puppies, younger, very active working dogs, brood bitches, and stud dogs usually require higher protein and fat levels. Fat requirements decline as dogs age.
