Canaries

Canaries have long been a popular pet bird. Canaries date back as early as the 1400s. Throughout history, canary cages have been elaborately designed and created to complement the beauty and song of these birds. Some members of royalty went as far as to design cages from precious metals and gemstones to keep in their palaces. Unlike certain larger birds, canaries are not very people oriented, but prefer the company of other birds. Canaries can be kept in male/female pairs or females can be kept together, but males should be kept seperately. They require a habitat at least 18" x 18" and make great apartment companions. You may find yellow or red factor canaries in Petco stores that will sing their way into your heart!
