Frilled Lizard

Frilled Lizards are named for the flap of skin around their necks and when feeling threatened, this flap lifts up encircling their head and making them look especially intimidating. They also stand up on their hind legs to appear larger creating an overall appearance we would recognize as resembling that of a dinosaur. This however, is a rare occurrence in pet Frilled Lizards. They have great personalities and require fairly similar care to that of a Bearded Dragon. Where they differ is the frilled lizards enjoy slightly higher humidity levels and also enjoy climbing up in trees. Be sure to provide some décor for climbing, and an elevated basking spot. Try mixing sand and a mulch type substrate, creating a natural look in your terrarium while also helping to keep humidity levels up. Frilled Lizards are easily tamed, impressive looking lizards that make fantastic pets.
