Also known as a Bluechin Trigger, Gilded Trigger, Papakol (Philippines), or Hoshimongara (Japan).
This fish will rearrange rocks and gravel as it sees fit. This species will also eat smaller fish, as well as ornamental shrimp and crabs. Initially a shy fish, the Female Bluejaw Trigger will eventually recognize its caretaker and has a personality similar to canines. This species has also been known to vocalize and make grunting sounds. However, be aware of its location at all times when cleaning its tank as it does have a mean bite.
In the wild, the Bluejaw Trigger has been known to reside around ledges and drop offs. This fish can sometimes be found swimming in the currents in an aquarium. Unlike the male, the Female Bluejaw Trigger is lacking the dark blue areas around its cheeks.
