Feed to Ideal Body Condition
Underfed: Ribs are highly visible. Increase the amount you are feeding. After two to three weeks, compare again. Adjust until puppy exhibits ideal body condition.
Ideal: Can feel and see outline of ribs. Puppy has a waist when viewed from above. Belly tucked up when viewed from the side. Maintain current feeding regimen.
Overfed: Puppy has no waist when viewed from above. Belly is rounded when viewed from the side. Decrease the amount you are feeding. After two to three weeks, compare again. Adjust as necessary.

- Weaning Pups
Begin feeding moistened Purina ONE Large Breed Puppy Formula as early as puppies will nibble at solid foods, generally three to four weeks of age. Allow your puppy to eat at will until fully weaned (six to eight weeks). For best results, develop a regular feeding schedule, such as three small meals a day for younger puppies. Gradually reduce to one feeding in the morning and one in the evening as your puppy ages. The routine should not vary. As puppies near adulthood, their calorie needs may decrease and your puppy may begin to leave some food in the bowl. This does not mean your dog dislikes the food. Instead, feed only the amount needed to maintain ideal body condition. Research at the Purina Pet Care Center indicates that avoiding overfeeding of puppies may help their development. Maintaining ideal body condition is key to encouraging proper growth in all puppies, especially large breeds. The indicated amounts are only a guideline. If your puppy becomes overweight, a reduction of his daily food intake may be appropriate. You may wish to consult your veterinarian about a weight control problem. - Serve Dry or Moistened
After weaning, Purina ONE Large Breed Puppy Formula can be fed either dry or mixed with water. If mixed, the manufacturer suggests one part liquid to four parts Purina ONE Large Breed Puppy Formula. To maintain freshness, if moistened food is not consumed, remove remaining portion and replace with a freshly moistened serving at the next feeding time. - Recommended For Growth
This product is for growth of large breed puppies and maintenance of adult dogs--not for reproducing or lactating females. If you have a pregnant or nursing female, the manufacturer recommends Purina ONE Growth & Development for Puppies. - Switching to Purina ONE Large Breed Puppy Formula
It's best to intorduce your puppy to a new diet over a seven to ten day period. To begin feeding Purina ONE Large Breed Puppy Formula, slowly decrease your puppy's current food while adding increasing amounts of Purina ONE Large Breed Puppy Formula. This transition will help avoid dietary upsets. - No Supplements Necessary
Purina ONE Large Breed Puppy Formula is formulated to provide complete and balanced nutrition for large breed puppies. There is no need to add vitamins, minerals, or other supplements to Purina ONE, unless specifically directed by a veterinarian. - Feed Only ONE
A dog's digestive system works best when it receives the same food each day. Although humans crave variety in their diets, dogs do not. Feeding different dog foods can turn your dog into a finicky eater. Avoid feeding table scraps, as they can upset the nutrient balance provided by your dog's regular food and may lead to obesity.
