Vlamingii Tang (aka Bignose Unicornfish)
The Vlamingii Tang or Bignose Unicornfish is an active and hardy Surgeonfish or Tang. Known as a jumper, a tightly fitted lid is a must to prevent this fish from escaping. This fish is also aggressive towards other Tangs, but will not harm other tankmates. The Vlamingii Tang is one of many fish that gains color and vibrancy with age. It will not harm corals or sessile invertebrates.
The majority of its diet should consist of herbivore foods such as marine algae and seaweed. This will enhance the fish's immune system and overall well-being. Carnivore foods such as vitamin enriched brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and carnivore specific preparations should only be used as supplements.
