Exo-Terra Reptile Terrarium Waterfall
Because of its unique design, the Exo-Terra Waterfall can be installed anywhere in the terrarium. Water circulation is provided by the Exo-Terra Repti Flo pump (included). The waterfall consists of several parts to facilitate cleaning. For safety reasons, the walls of the collection tank are rough in order to allow reptiles and amphibians to climb out easily, thus avoiding any danger of drowning. As an additional safety measure, for smaller chameleons and frogs, small stones or gravel may be added to the collection tank. Organic waste should be removed from the collection tank at regular intervals to keep the water clean. Tap water should be treated to remove chlorine and heavy metals, sold separately.
READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS and all important notices on the appliance before using. Failure to do so may result in damage to unit. 2. DANGER - To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken since water is employed in the use of this equipment. This appliance has no user serviceable parts. Do not attempt repairs yourself; return the appliance to an authorized service facility for service or discard the appliance. A. For INDOOR, FRESHWATER use only. B. Carefully examine the appliance after installation. It should not be plugged in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet. C. If the pump shows any sign of abnormal water leakage, immediately unplug it from the power source. D. Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it is malfunctioning or if it is dropped or damaged in any manner. The power cord of this appliance cannot be replaced; if the cord is damaged, the appliance should be discarded. Never cut the cord. E. To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or electrical socket getting wet, position the unit to one side of a wall mounted socket to prevent water from dripping onto the socket or plug. A drip-loop should be arranged. The drip-loop is that part of the cord below the level of the socket, or the connector if an extension cord is used, to prevent water from traveling along the cord and coming into contact with the socket. If the plug or socket does get wet, DO NOT unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to the appliance. Then unplug and examine for the presence of water in the socket. 3. It is suggested that this appliance and any other submersed aquarium appliance be equipped with a leakage circuit breaker. Warning: For North American market only. To prevent electric shock, supply electrical power through a wall mounted Residual Current Device (GFI-Ground Fault Current Interrupter) with a residual operating current not exceeding 30mA. If the appliance shows any sight of current leakage or if the GFI switches off, disconnect the power supply from mains and remove the appliance from the water. 4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. 5. Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never yank cord to pull the plug from the outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect. Disconnect the plug of this and any other submersed appliance before placing hands in the water. 7. If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord rated for less amperes or watts than the appliance rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it will not be tripped over or pulled. 8. Read and observe all the important notices on the appliance. 9. Do not use this appliance for other than its intended use. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance manufacturer may result in a dangerous situation. 10. Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to the weather or to temperatures below freezing. 11. Do not expose the appliance under sunlight or place at low temperature for a long period of time. 12. Make sure the appliance is securely installed before operating it. 13. The pump must be immersed in water. The pump must not run dry. 14. A. GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS (for USA only): This appliance should be grounded to minimize the possibility of electric shock. This appliance is equipped with an electric cord having an equipment grounding conductor and a grounded type plug. The plug must be plugged into an outlet that is installed and grounded in accordance with all appropriate codes and ordinances. B. WARNING (for Canada only): This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use with an extension cord unless plug can be fully inserted. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature. The Exo Terra Waterfall is powered by the Exo Terra Repti Flo 200 Circulation Pump (included). The pump is for indoor, household use only and is designed to power a variety of aquarium appliances that require a submersible circulating pump such as terrarium waterfalls, circulating water parts, etc. The pump is hermetically sealed to ensure safety and a long lasting life. Since it does not employ older technologies requiring oil cooling, it can never leak or contaminate the area with coolant. This pump is not recommended or designed to transport corrosive or flammable compounds or liquids with different properties than water. The pump motor is hermetically sealed with all live electrical parts immersed in a protective casing to prevent total insulation against water damage and electrical shock. The motor is extremely compact and energy efficient, while at the same time producing a continuous output flow.
Installation: 1. a) Small Waterfall: Insert pump into back of waterfall. Press down firmly on the pump to ensure the suction cups on the bottom of pump fully secure the pump in place. Attach the pump to the waterfall output tube. b) Medium/Large Waterfall: Attach the pump to the waterfall output tube. Fit the waterfall into the base; adjust the pump so that it is positioned flat on the base's interior. Press down on pump to ensure suction cups are holding it firmly in position. 2. Fill the waterfall basin with enough water to cover the pump. 3. Position the collection tank, back cover (small waterfall only), and rock pool (medium/large waterfall only) in place. Medium/Large Waterfall: Note - If using an optional fogger, install the fogger in the waterfall niche first before positioning the rock pool. 4. Arrange waterfall in position in terrarium. Waterfall should be placed on a flat, level surface. 5. Plug in unit. If the unit does not start immediately, verify that the water level is sufficient to immerse pump during operation.
