Black & White Heniochus
An active, and hardy butterflyfish, the Black & White Heniochus is usually a good addition to a reef tank. With its elegant elongated dorsal fin, the Heniochus are often known as Bannerfish rather than Butterflyfish. This is due to the movement of its dorsal fin while in motion, similar to a flag or banner's movement. Very similar to the Moorish Idol, this fish is sometimes known as the "Budget Moorish Idol" as they are cheaper, but also do much better in captivity than the Moorish Idol.
Black & White Heniochus - Living Conditions
More than one of this species in a tank can only be kept if they are introduced at the same time. The group will then form a hierarchy within the tank and may school together. Although generally a reef safe fish, there is the possibility of nipping at soft corals.
Enjoys a varied diet, including but not limited to brine shrimp, daphnia, mysis shrimp, zooplankton, herbivore-specific and carnivore-specific frozen foods. Feed at least three times daily.
