Lavender Tang (aka Spotted Cheek Tang)
The Lavender Tang, or Spotted Cheek Tang varies from light grey-ish brown to dark brown with a slight trace of lavender with orange & black spots. This often over-looked fish is actually quite the fascinating species. Grazing upon filamentous algae, these Hawaiian natives work great in schools often feeding together. Less territorial, and less aggressive than most other fish in the Acanthuridae family, the Lavender Tang is a wonderful addition to any large community tank. These fish are also great for controlling hair algae.
Enjoys vegetarian items such as Spirulina, dried seaweed, marine algae, and frozen & freeze-dried herbivore foods. Supplement with fully rinsed vegetables such as zucchini, broccoli, and leaf lettuce.
