Your live fish may not match the image shown due to natural variations in each species. Each companion animal is different in shape, color, and personality.
The graceful Radiata Lionfish is a hardy species with fan-like fins and black, red and white body pattern. This species is not a very active swimmer and generally drifts in the tank, ignoring most tank mates, including other lionfish. Avoid the addition of smaller tank mates and fin nipping fish that may pick on the lionfish. Due to the venomous nature of the dorsal spines on the lionfish, exercise caution when working in the tank.
Adapts to captivity easily when provided with adequate hiding spots such as crevices and caves. Plenty of swimming room is needed as is subdued lighting as this species is more active at night than during the day.
Radiata Lionfish - Special Care Info
As with all Lionfish, the spines located across its dorsal, pectoral, and anal fins are venomous. The likelihood of a sting is a very uncommon event, but should not be taken lightly. Although the venom is stronger than a bee sting, every person reacts differently to the venom. It is highly recommended to get medical treatment.
