Kaytee Iguana Food is a formulated diet ensuring superior nutrition for your pet. Iguanas are primarily herbivorous animals, consuming large amounts of plants and flowers in the wild. Kaytee Iguana Food contains flower shaped nuggets with special flower and plant ingredients which provide the nutrients necessary for excellent growth, color, and good health.Inadequate levels of calcium and vitamin D3 may lead to metabolic bone disease in reptiles. By providing the proper levels of calcium and vitamin D3 in Kaytee Iguana Food, the need for ultraviolet light is diminished, though broad spectrum lighting is still recommended to maintain the psychological health of your iguana. Feeding additional vitamins and minerals is strongly discouraged. Yucca extract is added to help eliminate strong dropping odors.
Kaytee Iguana Food is designed to be fed to your iguana as its sole diet. Naturally appealing flavors are added to further increase attraction. Formulated and tested in long term feeding trials at the Kaytee Research Center, it is designed to be fed dry. Provide food twice daily, or leave out to simulate the iguana's natural foraging behavior. Grated vegetables may be added occasionally, but are not necessary. Provide clean, fresh water at all times.
Avoid contact of food and bedding, which can increase contamination of food and the likelihood of bedding consumption which may cause intestinal blockage. Maintain a sanitary environment for your iguana at all times.

Feeding InstructionsFeed Juvenile Iguana Food from hatching to three to four feet in length.
Feed Adult Iguana Food to animals over four feet in length or when slower growth is desired. Although amounts will vary between individuals, begin with one tablespoon of food per foot (length from head to tail) of animal or slightly more Kaytee Iguana Food per day than your animal consumes in one 12 hour period. Adjust as necessary.
- May be fed moistened to increase palatability.
- Mix with vegetables and fruits to encourage consumption.
- Important: Do not add vitamin or mineral supplements.
- Important: Discard moist and soiled food daily.
Conversion
When converting your iguana to its new food, gradually mix its old food with the Kaytee Iguana Food. To increase consumption and ease conversion, moisten the new food with water or fruit juice, or add pureed vegetables. Slowly (over seven to 14 days), wean your iguana off the moistened food, while increasing the proportion of dry food.
For maximum freshness, store in a cool, dry location.
