Also known as Khalisha (India), Almindelig dværggurami (Denmark), or Roter Zwergfadenfisch (Germany).
As with all Gouramis, the Dwarf Gourami must be allowed to breathe from the water's surface. The Dwarf Gourami has an overall iridescent glow to its body that is most prominent in males. The male tends to be a bright orange-red with turquoise blue vertical strips and the female tends to be a pale blue-gray with light yellow vertical stripes. This species is great for smaller tanks with ample amounts of vegetation and dark substrate.
The Dwarf Gourami does best in a well planted tank with peaceful fish. Ideal tankmates include other passive tankmates such as Mollies, Platies, and Guppies. Avoid boisterous and aggressive tankmates such as Tiger Barbs, Cichlids, andIt is recommended that the tank is located in a quiet location and that frequent water changes are performed to ensure good health.
