Yellow Tang

Your live fish or rock may not match the image shown due to natural variations in each species. Each companion animal is different in shape, color, and personality.

Yellow Tang

Tangs are also called surgeon fish due to the scalpel-like spine at the base of its tail. The territorial tang will swipe its tail at a target as a means of defense. One of the most recognized marine fish, the Yellow Tang is a radiant canary yellow and is widespread from Hawaii to Indonesia and the Great Barrier Reef. A tank with plenty of live rock and decor to provide several hiding spots and a wide area for swimming is recommended. Tangs tend to be most aggressive towards fish of similar form and color. Multiple Yellow Tangs must be introduced into a tank simultaneously, and only in larger tanks. To minimize aggression in a small aquarium it is recommended to have only one Tang.

Commercial algae or algae sheets; blanched leaf lettuce or spinach; marine flake or pelleted herbivore food. Algae or algae sheets should be available at all times.
