Also known as Trey kawmphleanh samrai (Cambodia), Three spot Gourami, Pla kra di (Thailand), or Toplettet Gurami (Denmark).
The scientific name trichopterus comes from the Greek words trichias (Hairy) and pteron (Wing). This is referring to its two long hair-like pelvic fins.
The Gourami is a tropical freshwater fish ideally suited for any community aquarium and must breathe from the water's surface. The Blue Gourami is similar to the Gold Gourami, but it has contrasting shades of blue with grey markings. As with the Gold Gourami, the Blue Gourami is a color morph of the three-spot Gourami. This particular Gourami does best in a planted tank with driftwood, rocks and several hiding spots. In nature, the Blue Gourami can be found in densely vegetated waters in ponds, swamps, rivers, and lakes.
The Blue Gourami does best when housed with similar-sized fish that have similar temperaments.
