Feeding Directions
When you first bring your kitten home, he will be under a great deal of stress due to the change in environment. This stress may cause digestive upset. To avoid the further stress of a change in diet, make changes gradual. Start with a small amount of Ultramix Kitten Formula in place of his current food. Over the next week to 10 days, increase the amount of Ultramix Kitten Formula while decreasing the amount of the other food, until your kitten has only Ultramix Kitten Formula in his bowl.Kittens, like babies, have special nutritional needs during their first year and should have their own special food to meet those needs. Ultramix Kitten Formula provides concentrated nutrition with all the protein, vitamins and other nutrients an active kitten needs, as well as optimum levels of fat, energy, and calcium for their developing bones and teeth. The crunchy pieces provide great taste and excellent chewing exercise, and help clean teeth. Because kittens continue to develop throughout their first year it's important for their continued wellness to provide the complete and balanced nutrition in Ultramix Kitten Formula for a full 12 months.
Feed your kitten an amount that will provide steady optimal growth without becoming overweight. This food intake will vary depending on age, activity level, environment and other factors so please adjust your kitten's feeding amount using the information below as a guide. Remember to provide plenty of fresh water in a clean container at all times. Regular visits to your veterinarian and exercise are strongly recommended to help ensure your kitten's good health.
Feeding Guidelines for Kittens:
Amounts based on standard 8 oz. dry measuring cup.
3 to 6 weeks: Daily Amount 1/4 -1/3 cup. Divide this amount into 3 to 4 servings throughout the day. After 3 to 4 weeks on mother's milk, kittens can begin to eat solid food moistened with warm water. Just add 1 part warm water to 3 parts Ultramix Kitten Formula.
7 to 24 weeks: Daily Amount 1/3 to 2/3 cup. Divide this amount into 3 to 4 servings throughout the day. After 6 to 8 weeks, your kitten can eat either dry or moist food. Start a self-feeding program leaving Ultramix Kitten Formula in a dish at all times.
25 to 52 weeks: Daily Amount 1/2 to 1/3 cup per day. Divide this into 2 servings throughout the day.
Feeding Guidelines for Reproduction
Ultramix Kitten Formula provides the extra nutrition needed by reproducing female cats in stages of gestation and lactation. Food intake may vary during gestation so feed the amount needed to maintain the pregnant female's good body condition. During lactation, food intake may double or even quadruple. Again, feed the amount needed to maintain the lactating female's good body condition.
