Searching for Products
We want you to find your pet's favorite products in as few clicks as possible. You can locate products by searching or browsing.

To begin a search, type in the product name or category in the Search box at the top of any page and click "Go." You will see three tabs of search results: Products, Articles and Help. The number of results returned is indicated in parentheses on each tab. Click on the tabs to view your results. You can refine your search results by typing in an additional search term, checking the "search within results" box and searching again. You can also narrow your search results by clicking on the attributes at the top of the page, such as size, color or flavor.

You can browse the product selection through the left navigation bar. Click on a pet type, and then click on the category you would like to browse. You can click on the subcategories at the top of the page to narrow product listings.




Shopping Cart

Filling your Shopping Cart with all kinds of irresistible pet products is easy. Here's how:

  1. Add a product to your Shopping Cart by entering a Quantity and clicking "Add to Cart" or "Add to Bottomless Bowl" on a product page.
  2. To buy multiple quantities of an item in your Shopping Cart, simply increase the number in the appropriate "Quantity" box.
  3. Click "Update Cart" to save the changes you made.

To view items in your Shopping Cart, click the "Shopping Cart" link at the top of any page. You can also see the most recently added items in the left column of any page.

To remove an item from your Shopping Cart, check the box under the delete column and click on "Update Cart." When you delete an item, its price is automatically deducted from your total cost. You can also remove an item by changing the quantity of that item to zero and then clicking "Update Cart."





Placing Your Order

When you are ready to complete your purchase, click "Checkout" on the Shopping Cart page or in the left column on any page.

If you are a registered used and are not signed in to PETCO.com, you will be asked to sign in with your email address and password. If you have saved any shipping or billing information in Your Account, you will be taken to the Review & Submit Your Order page. Verify or edit your information, then click "Place Your Order."

If you have not registered with PETCO.com, enter your email address, choose "No, I am a new customer" and click "Continue." We’ll then walk you through these steps to check out:

Shipping Information:

  1. Enter shipping information for where you would like order sent. You may also choose to ship items to more than one address.
  2. Click "Continue."

Payment & Password:

  1. If it is different from your Shipping Address, enter the Billing Address for your form of payment.
  2. Choose your payment method. (To redeem a Gift Card or a Gift Certificate, click the "Redeem it here" link.)
  3. Enter the requested information.
  4. Create a password so you can conveniently check your order status or order history and quickly place new orders.

Passwords must be 4-20 characters and are case sensitive. A Password Reminder, a word or phrase to help you remember your password, is optional.

Review and Submit Your Order:

  1. Verify your information is correct. If you need to make changes, click the "Change" button in the appropriate area.
  2. Verify the shipping option you have selected (choices vary based on your shipping address and the items in your Shopping Cart).
  3. Click "Place Your Order."

Order Processing

Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email with your order summary. Orders are subject to verification of payment information by phone and processing time may be affected.





Payment Options

PETCO.com accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. If you don't have a credit card, or prefer not to use one, you have many options to shop with us! In addition to credit cards, we are pleased to accept Bill Me Later, Google Checkout, PayPal and TeleCheck.

Bill Me Later® is a convenient and secure new payment method that provides you with the flexibility to purchase without using your credit card. Using your Bill Me Later® account, you can place an order, receive the merchandise and be billed at a later date. Just enter some simple contact information to verify your credit. There's no credit card or account information to remember! You will receive authorization to use the Bill Me Later® service and an account will be automatically set up for you on PETCO.com. PayPal, owned by eBay, is a global online payment system. PayPal is a convenient, easy-to-use, and secure way for you to pay for your PETCO.com order. PayPal is an account-based system that allows anyone with an email address to securely send and receive online payments. At Checkout, you will be redirected to PayPal's web site to confirm your payment source, such as a credit card or checking account. More info

TeleCheck is a service that allows you to pay for your purchase directly from your checking account. Provide your checking account information. Enjoy the comfort and familiarity of paying by check while ordering online. Once verified by TeleCheck, the amount of your purchase will be automatically deducted from your checking account upon validation by your bank. More info

Gift Cards and Gift Certificates
At Checkout, enter the PETCO Gift Card number and PIN in the Gift Card box. You can find your PIN under the scratchoff on the back of the Gift Card.

If you have an Online Gift Certificate, enter the Gift Certificate ID in the email you received from us. You may enter up to four Gift Cards and four Gift Certificates per order.

Gift Card Terms of Use
Your use of a PETCO Gift Card constitutes acceptance of these terms:
  • PETCO Gift Cards may be redeemed in our stores or on PETCO.com.
  • The purchaser will need to be registered with PETCO.com to purchase a PETCO Gift Card online and the recipient will need to be registered with PETCO.com to redeem it online (registration not required to redeem in stores).
  • Gift Card purchase on PETCO.com does not count toward minimum purchase requirement to earn promotional discount.
  • Gift Cards are like cash and cannot be returned.
  • Gift Cards are mailed free of charge via standard shipping separate from any merchandise. To allow for custom messages with each Gift Card, each card is sent in a separate envelope (i.e if you order five cards, you will receive five envelopes). You may also choose to expedite a shipment for an additional fee of $6.00 per card (not available to P.O. Boxes). Standard shipments of Gift Cards usually arrive in 7-10 business days. Expedited shipments of Gift Cards are shipped via FedEx Express 2-Day Delivery.
  • Sales tax is not charged for Gift Cards.
  • A PETCO Gift Card may be applied toward the purchase of any items on PETCO.com except donations, backordered items, or the purchase of another Gift Card or Gift Certificate. Up to four Gift Cards may be used for each purchase.
  • The value of the Gift Card is applied to the total purchase, including shipping and tax. Gift Cards cannot be redeemed for cash.
  • The recipient must retain the Gift Card and PIN for future use, if an unused balance remains.
  • PETCO is not responsible for Gift Cards undeliverable, delayed or not received as a result of inaccurate information, including physical address.
  • Orders are subject to verification of payment information.
  • Gift Cards can be purchased in PETCO stores and online. PETCO is not responsible for Gift Cards purchased through a third party with which PETCO is not affiliated.
  • Gift Cards are not replaceable if lost, stolen or destroyed. Treat them as cash!




Gift Certificate Terms of Use
Your use of a PETCO.com Online Gift Certificate constitutes acceptance of these terms:
  • You must have the PETCO.com Online Gift Certificate ID number to redeem this Gift Certificate. PETCO.com will NOT provide a refund or be able to identify or recover the Gift Certificate ID number if it is lost, stolen, or destroyed.
  • You may redeem this PETCO.com Online Gift Certificate only if you live in the United States and are registered with PETCO.com.
  • A PETCO.com Gift Certificate may be applied toward the purchase of any items on PETCO.com except donations, back-ordered items, or the purchase of another Gift Certificate or Gift Card. Up to four Gift Certificates may be used for each purchase.
  • PETCO.com Online Gift Certificates may be applied only toward purchases made online at PETCO.com. They cannot be redeemed in retail stores, catalogs, or other Web sites owned or controlled by PETCO.com
  • Value of the PETCO.com Online Gift Certificate is applied to the total purchase, including shipping and tax. Gift Certificates cannot be redeemed for cash.
  • If your order exceeds the amount of the PETCO.com Online Gift Certificate(s), you must pay the balance with a credit card.
  • Any unused balance will be placed in your PETCO.com Online Gift Certificate account in Your Account and may be used on a subsequent purchase. For security reasons, your complete PETCO.com Online Gift Certificate ID will not be displayed there, so please keep a copy of the email you received.
  • Gift Certificates can be purchased online at PETCO.com. PETCO is not responsible for Gift Certificates purchased through a third party with which PETCO is not affiliated.
  • PETCO.com Online Gift Certificates and unused portions of the Gift Certificates expire one year from the date of issue or on the earliest date permitted under applicable law, whichever occurs later. The foregoing expiration date is not applicable in California and New Hampshire.




Promotion Codes and Coupons
A Promotion Code is applied to your entire order. To use a Promotion Code, go to the Promotion Codes & Coupons Available section of the My Coupons page, select the Promotion Code you want to use for the order you are currently placing and click "Redeem." The Promotion Code you chose will be added to your order. Please note that only one Promotion Code can be used per order.

An Electronic Coupon is for a specific product, and is automatically applied when you meet the purchase criteria for a product with a current Coupon offer.

The "My Coupons" section of Your Account displays the Electronic Coupons that are available for items in your order, as well as available Promotion Codes that you may redeem when placing an order.

  • Identify the Promotion Code. It is a string of letters and numbers that appears in your email, ad, circular, etc. (e.g., "circ2")
  • Enter the Promotion Code in the box provided during checkout. (see below) Note: You must login to access the checkout page.
  • Your discount will be automatically applied to your order when you meet stated Promotion Code requirements.

My Coupons
If you are logged in, when you enter your Promotion Code or Coupon, the code will be saved in your Coupon Book. To access these discounts at a future time, click on the 'My Coupons' link from the shopping cart or 'Your Account' area. Any valid, unused codes you have previously entered will be saved here.

Problems with a Promotion Code?
If you have followed the steps above, but get an error message and are not allowed to redeem the Promotion Code, please email us or call toll-free 1-877-738-6742.





Sales Tax
By law, we must collect applicable sales tax for orders shipping to states where we have retail stores. Additionally, we are required to charge sales tax on shipping charges to the following states:

The sales tax for your order will be displayed in your Shopping Cart or on the Review Order page when we know your shipping address.

Sales tax does not apply to purchases of Gift Cards, Gift Certificates and Donations.




Cancelling or Modifying an Order

After you have placed an order, there is a limited time in which you can cancel it. To see if an order can be cancelled:

  1. Sign in to Your Account.
  2. Under the "Recent Order Status and History" section, locate the order you would like to cancel. If the status is "Pending – Modify this Order," click on this link to cancel the order.
  3. Click the "Cancel Order" button. You will see a confirmation screen when the order has been cancelled. We will also email you confirming the cancellation.
  4. To modify the order, click on "Modify this Order." You will be given the option to cancel the existing order and start over with the same items in your Shopping Cart. You can then make the changes you would like and submit a new order.




Modifying Your Shipping Address

There is a limited amount of time available for modifying the shipping address on an order. To see if your order can be modified:

  1. Sign in to Your Account.
  2. Under the "Recent Order Status and History" section, locate the order you would like to modify. If the status is "Pending – Modify this Order," click on this link to modify the order.
  3. To modify the order, click on "Modify this Order." You will be given the option to cancel the existing order and start over with the same items in your Shopping Cart. You can then make the changes you would like and submit a new order.
If the option to modify your order is not available, the order is in process and we will no longer be able to modify any information on your order. PETCO.com will not be responsible for redirecting packages if the wrong or incomplete shipping address is provided during the order process.

We take reasonable steps to protect information for orders placed online with PETCO.com.

Here's Why:

We use the most reputable, secure server technology (SSL) for all of our commerce transactions. Once we have collected personal data, we take reasonable steps to protect it against unauthorized access.

Another Option:

You don't have to place your order online. Instead, you can call our toll-free order line at 1-877-738-6742 and place it by phone, or print out our order form and fax your order to us at 1-888-409-4567.

Our Promise:

Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, a bank cannot hold you liable for fraudulent charges exceeding $50.00. If a fraudulent charge resulted from the unauthorized use of your credit card while shopping with PETCO.com, we will cover your full liability, up to $50.00.




Amazon.com/Google Checkout/SHOP.com Orders
Purchases may be returned to a PETCO store for store credit. When returning an order purchased through Amazon.com, Google Checkout or SHOP.COM to PETCO.com, the applicable credit will be applied to your original form of payment.

Please note that discounts and assortment available on PETCO.com may not always be available for orders placed through Amazon.com, Google Checkout or SHOP.COM. Sorry, Google Checkout cannot be used for orders shipping to P.O. Boxes.
