I'm just writing to tell you how delighted I am to find your products. I have a labrador mix that we adopted from the animal shelter two years ago. She is a real joy in our lives and we want her to be around a long time. I was looking for a healthy dog food for her and happened on your Organix® range of dog food. I try to buy as many organic products as possible so it was nice to find a dog food that was organic as well. I decided to try it and, needless to say, our dog, Lucy, loves it! She will even eat it dry and has taken to letting me know when it is her dinner time. She wastes no time in finishing her meal either. Now I feel confident that she is getting healthy food and best of all she likes it too. donnna
I just wanted to let you know that we tried the Organix® Canine Adult formulas in dry and canned today, and my dogs won't quit following me around the house! :) We have two dogs, Casey (a female 7 year-old black lab/doberman mix) and Vicki (a female 4 year-old Jack Russell/bird dog/pointer mix) and Vicki is especially finicky. I was looking for an organic dog food, and I saw the Castor and Pollux brand at Petco today. When I fed them the dry and canned mixed tonight for dinner, they gobbled it up and looked around for more. I gave them each two more small dishes of the dry, and they ate every bit! I've never seen Vicki actually eat dog food willingly, lol! My husband and I are more conscious of eating better ourselves and have added as many organic and all natural foods as we can, and feel it is in our dogs' best interest to do the same. Why Go Organic?

  • Q: What does it mean to be certified organic?
  • A: The organic certification process is unlike any other safety measure in place for pet food and treats. Organic certifying agencies operate under the mandate of the USDA's National Organic Program and are charged with ensuring that the very rigorous standards and regulations are followed by all involved in a certified organic product. As with organic foods for humans, organic pet foods contain ingredients that have come from farms and fields that operate without pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics, growth hormones and the like.

    Fields must be pesticide-free for three years before they can be planted with organic crops. Organic chickens are free range, are fed an organic diet themselves, and are treated humanely. The plant producing Organix® must be certified organic and is then subject to surprise inspections by the organic certifying agency. The production line shuts down for up to 24 hours for a cleaning regimen mandated by the USDA. And, detailed documentation must be maintained for review by the organic certifying agency.
  • Q: How do I know if a product is certified organic?
  • A: If the product is made with 95% organic ingredients, the name of the product can include the word "organic" and the USDA's organic logo will appear on the package. If the content is 70% - 94% organic ingredients, the label may state "Made with Organic Ingredients." Products that are in compliance with organic labeling regulations will have the name of the organic certifying agency plus the agency's contact information printed on the package.

    Other, very specific packaging regulations apply to organic products. Not all pet product companies fully adhere to the USDA's National Organic Program labeling regulations. Organix® does to give you the added assurance that the same regulations that apply to human organic foods and ingredients applies to what you're reading on the Organix® package and to what you're feeding your four-legged best friend!
  • Q: Why should I feed my dogs and cats an organic diet?
  • A: Reason #1: Safety.
    Being certified organic takes pet food safety to a whole new level. The USDA's NOP (the same one that applies to organic people food) is extremely rigorous. From the field and farm through to the manufacturing of Organix®, each and every step must be certified organic. Each and every ingredient must be reviewed and approved by the organic certifying agency for inclusion in Organix - this applies to all ingredients, whether they are organic or not.

    Reason #2: Quality.
    Organic products generally contain higher quality ingredients, are handled and stored in a safer manner and are regulated more closely.
  • Q: Why do you use chicken meal in your Organix® formulas? I thought meal was bad!
  • A: The chicken meal used in Organix® is chicken meat with the moisture removed. This makes it a high quality, concentrated source of meat-based protein that is easy to digest and utilize, and tastes great! Don't confuse it with by-products or by-product meal - there's a big difference! Chicken meal is added to the certified organic, free range chicken meat in Organix to supplement and complement this excellent protein source. It, along with all other ingredients in Organix, is reviewed and approved by the organic certifying agency as required under the USDA's National Organic Program.
