National Food Drive

You can be the hands that help us extend our hearts - volunteer today!

According to Feeding America, a national food bank, 1 in 8 Americans (37 million people) received emergency food help in 2010; that is an increase of 46% since 2005. Many families are abandoning their pets because they are having a difficult time feeding their human family members.

From October 28 - November 11th, Petco and the Petco Foundation will host the third annual Food Drive to kick off the holiday season and ensure that all pet parents can enjoy a healthy and plentiful Thanksgiving with their four-legged family members. All food collected during the food drive will be donated to food banks in each local community to help families in need keep their pets.

ALL volunteers will receive a $5 off Petco coupon. Additionally, one volunteer will win a $500 Petco shopping spree for the pet food bank partner of their choice.

The Petco Foundation is now recruiting volunteers to support this event. Volunteers will:

  • Greet the public, tell them about the need for pet food in food banks, ask customers to make a donation
  • Let people know that Hill's is matching all donations of their products (up to a total of 80,000 pounds) and refer them to the event table which will include a display of Hill's Science Diet products
  • Answer any questions customers may have regarding the food drive event
  • More details regarding the role of the volunteer will be provided via a video after signing up on-line
  • All volunteers must be 18 years of age, or older
