When you bring the Scratch'r Cizer home, do not let your cat see the "look what I have for kitty" smile on your face. It will give you away. When alone, place a small portion of the gourmet catnip into the reservoir. Save the remaining catnip as a treat. Now, hold the cat on your lap and gently groom its claws on the sisal pad. This will familiarize it with the pleasant feel and intoxicating aroma. Next, place the Scratch'r Cizer near your cat's favorite scratching spot and demonstrate its use by crawling on your hands and knees and scratching it like a cat. Important: Cats learn by imitation, so, to be effective, your theatrical performance must be convincing. The manufacturer recommends that cats start using the Scratch'r Cizer in a flat position and work up to the tilted version which uses the insertable legs.

Note: Reward your cat when it first uses the Scratch'r Cizer. This will encourage continued use and help prevent prowling for something else to scratch.

Assembly Instructions

1. Open stay-fresh pouch and pinch the 100% natural Private Reserve Gourmet Catnip between your fingers to release its aroma. Fill the reservoir tray with a small portion of the catnip and close the tab tightly. Keep the remaining catnip for later use as a treat.
2. Optional Exercise: If your cat requires a stronger workout on the Scratch'r Cizer, remove the insert legs from under the unit and place them in the slots at either end of the scratcher.
