Dot Dash Butterfly (aka Punctato Butterflyfish)
Also known as the Punctato Butterflyfish, this fish does well in captivity, but as with all butterflies, optimal water quality is a must. The Dot Dash Butterflyfish is very similar to the Pelewensis Butterfly, Chaetodon pelewensis. This fish should have a good number of hiding places as well as non-aggressive, relatively slow swimming tank mates. The Dot Dash Butterfly is not the ideal specimen for a reef aquarium as it will eat almost every invertebrate in the tank. Although quite peaceful towards most other fish, other Butterflyfish are usually not tolerated and may be harassed.
Does best with a variety of herbivore and carnivore specific foods, including, but not limited to, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other crustacean flesh. Best when fed one to three times per day.
