Before you bring your rat home be sure to have a cage and bedding. You may add more rat supplies as you become familiar with the particular needs of your pet.
Pet cages are generally made of a combination of glass, plastic, or metal. It is best to provide the largest habitat possible that is escape-proof.
Bedding one to two inches deep should be placed throughout the habitat. Proper bedding for rats includes hardwood shavings or recycled product.
