Searching for Products
We want you to find your pet's favorite products in as few clicks as possible. You can locate products by searching or browsing.
To begin a search, type in the product name or category in the Search box at the top of any page and click on the magnifying glass or hit "Enter". You will see three tabs of search results: Products, Articles and Help. The number of results returned is indicated in parentheses on each tab. Click on the tabs to view your results. You can narrow your search results by selecting attributes on the left side of the page, such as size, color or flavor.
Placing Your Order
When you are ready to complete your purchase, click "Secure Checkout" on the Shopping Cart page.
If you are a registered user and are not signed in to petco.com, you will be asked to sign in with your email address and password. If you have saved any shipping or billing information in My Account, you will be taken to the Checkout page where you can review and submit your order. Verify or edit your information, then click "Place Order."
If you have not registered with petco.com, enter your email address in the "New to petco.com?" column and click "Continue." We’ll then walk you through these steps to complete your purchase:
Shipping Information:
- Enter the address where you'd like us to ship your products.
- Check the box below the address entry form to let us know if your shipping address is also your billing address.
- Click "Continue to Shipping Method."
Shipping Method:
- Select your desired shipping method. (Choices vary based on your shipping address and the items in your Shopping Cart). Once you've selected a shipping method, your total will update in your Shopping Cart.
- Click "Redeem Gift Card or Promo" or "Continue to Payment" to proceed.
Gift Cards and Promotions (Optional):
- Enter your Promotion/Coupon Code into the space provided. Click "Apply".
- If applicable, enter your Gift Card or eGift Card you'd like to redeem and select "Apply." Once accepted, your order totals will update.
Payment:
- Choose your payment method.
- If it is different from your Shipping Address, enter the Billing Address for your form of payment.
- Submit the requested information.
- Select "Save and Continue" to proceed.
Gift Message (Optional):
- Enter your Gift Message in the space provided (5 lines, maximum 60 characters per line, including spaces).
- If an email address is provided, we will sent the recipient an email upon shipment of the product.
- Click "Save and Continue".
Create An Account
- Create a password so you can conveniently check your order status or order history and quickly place new orders. Passwords must be 6-20 characters and are case sensitive.
- A Password Reminder, a word or phrase to help you remember your password, is optional.
Lastly, verify your information is correct. If you need to make changes, click the "Edit" button in the appropriate area. Once you're satisfied, Click "Place Order."
Order Processing
Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email with your order summary. Orders are subject to verification of payment information by phone and processing time may be affected.
Petco.com Payment Options
Petco.com accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. If you don't have a credit card, or prefer not to use one, you have many options to shop with us! In addition to credit cards, we are pleased to accept Bill Me Later, Google Checkout, PayPal and Amazon Payments.
Bill Me Later® is a convenient and secure new payment method that provides you with the flexibility to purchase without using your credit card. Using your Bill Me Later® account, you can place an order, receive the merchandise and be billed at a later date. Just enter some simple contact information to verify your credit. There's no credit card or account information to remember! You will receive authorization to use the Bill Me Later® service and an account will be automatically set up for you on petco.com. More info
PayPal, owned by eBay, is a global online payment system. PayPal is a convenient, easy-to-use, and secure way for you to pay for your petco.com order. PayPal is an account-based system that allows anyone with an email address to securely send and receive online payments. At Checkout, you will be redirected to PayPal's web site to confirm your payment source, such as a credit card or checking account. More info
Amazon Payments allows you one more way to complete your order on petco.com. With Amazon Payments, you are able to use the payment methods that you already use on Amazon.com for your petco.com order. Once you've created your Amazon Payments account, you can make secure purchases from petco.com without having to re-enter your payment information. More info

Promotion Codes and Coupons
A Promotion Code is applied to your entire order. To use a Promotion Code, enter the Promotion Code into the "Promotion Code" field at Checkout. You may also go to the "Promotion Codes & Coupons Available" section of the My Coupons page, select the Promotion Code you want to use for the order you are currently placing and click "Redeem." The Promotion Code you chose will be added to your order. Please note that only one Promotion Code can be used per order.
Most promotions offered through petco.com require a minimum purchase. The minimum purchase refers to the subtotal of the order.

- Identify the Promotion Code. It is a string of letters and numbers that appears in your email, advertisement, local ad, etc. (e.g., "circ2")
- Enter the Promotion Code in the box provided during checkout. (see below) Note: You must sign in to access Checkout.
- Your discount will be automatically applied to your order when you meet stated Promotion Code requirements.

My Coupons An Electronic Coupon is for a specific product, and is automatically applied when you meet the purchase criteria for a product with a current Coupon offer.
The "My Coupons" section of My Account displays the Electronic Coupons that are available for items in your order, as well as available Promotion Codes that you may redeem when placing an order. If you are logged in, when you enter your Promotion Code or Coupon, the code will be saved in your Coupon Book. To access these discounts at a future time, click on the 'My Coupons' link from the shopping cart or 'My Account' area. Any valid, unused codes you have previously entered will be saved here.

Sales Tax
By law, we must collect applicable sales tax for orders shipping to states where we have retail stores. Additionally, we are required to charge sales tax on shipping charges to the following states:

The sales tax for your order will be displayed in your Shopping Cart or on the Secure Checkout page when we know your shipping address.
Sales tax does not apply to purchases of Gift Cards, Gift Certificates and Donations.
Tax Exemption
If you qualify for tax exemption, please submit your request for exemption by faxing your tax certificate, resale certificate, or other required documentation to 858-784-3489. On a cover sheet, be sure to include your order number. A Tax Specialist will review your certificate once it has been received. We will notify you by email within 5 business days if your request has been approved.
Your order will initially be taxed. Once we've received your request and it has been approved, we will process a refund back to the original form of payment for the applicable amount. An automated email will be sent as confirmation that the refund has been processed. You may also log in to your PETCO.com account to view the adjustment on the Order Details page. Please allow up to 10 business days for the refund to appear on your banking statement.
Cancelling or Modifying an Order
After you have placed an order, there is a limited time in which you can cancel it. To see if an order can be cancelled:
- Sign in to your petco.com account.
- Under the "Order Information" section, locate the order you would like to cancel.
- Click the "Cancel Order" link. You will see a confirmation screen when the order has been cancelled. We will also email you confirming the cancellation. We will also email you confirming the cancellation.
- To modify the order, click on "Modify Order." You will be given the option to cancel the existing order and start over with the same items in your Shopping Cart. You can then make the changes you would like and submit a new order.
Modifying Your Shipping Address
There is a limited amount of time available for modifying the shipping address on an order. To see if your order can be modified:
- Sign in to "My Account."
- Under the "Order History" section, locate the order you would like to modify.
- To modify the order, click on "Modify Order." You will be given the option to cancel the existing order and start over with the same items in your Shopping Cart. You can then make the changes you would like and submit a new order.
If the option to modify your order is not available, the order is in process and we will no longer be able to modify any information on your order. Petco.com will not be responsible for redirecting packages if the wrong or incomplete shipping address is provided during the order process.
Redeeming your Gift Card or eGift Card
At Checkout, enter the Petco Gift Card or Petco eGift Card code number and PIN in the Gift Card box. For Petco eGift Cards, you can find the PIN listed to the right of your Card Number on your email or print-out. For Petco Gift Cards, your PIN can be found under the scratchoff on the back of the Gift Card.

Gift Card Terms of Use
Your use of a Petco Gift Card constitutes acceptance of these terms:
- Petco Gift Cards may be redeemed in our stores or on petco.com.
- The purchaser will need to be registered with Petco.com to purchase a Petco Gift Card online and the recipient will need to be registered with petco.com to redeem it online (registration not required to redeem in stores).
- Gift Card purchase on petco.com does not count toward minimum purchase requirement to earn promotional discount.
- Gift Cards are like cash and cannot be returned. Gift Cards are not replaceable if lost, stolen or destroyed.
- Gift Cards are mailed free of charge via standard shipping separate from any merchandise. To allow for custom messages with each Gift Card, each card is sent in a separate envelope (i.e if you order five cards, you will receive five envelopes). You may also choose to expedite a shipment for an additional fee of $6.00 per card (not available to P.O. Boxes). Standard shipments of Gift Cards usually arrive in 7-10 business days. Expedited shipments of Gift Cards are shipped via FedEx Express 2-Day Delivery.
- Sales tax is not charged for Gift Cards.
- A Petco Gift Card may be applied toward the purchase of any items on petco.com except donations, backordered items, or the purchase of another Gift Card.
- The value of the Gift Card is applied to the total purchase, including shipping and tax. Gift Cards cannot be redeemed for cash, except where redeemable by law.
- The recipient must retain the Gift Card and PIN for future use, if an unused balance remains.
- Petco is not responsible for Gift Cards that are undeliverable, delayed or not received as a result of inaccurate information, including physical address.
- Orders are subject to verification of payment information.
- Gift Cards can be purchased in Petco stores, Unleashed by Petco stores, online and other select retailers. Petco is not responsible for Gift Cards purchased through a third party with which Petco is not affiliated.
eGift Card Terms of Use
Your use of a Petco eGift Card constitutes acceptance of these terms:
- You must have the 16-digit Petco eGift Card code number and 9-digit PIN to redeem your Petco eGift Card.
- You may redeem a Petco eGift Card only if you live in the United States, U.S. Territories including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, or any other area where petco.com ships product or has a physical location.
- A Petco eGift Card may be applied toward the purchase of any items at Petco, Unleashed, or on petco.com excluding donations, back-ordered items, or the purchase of another eGift Card or Petco Gift Card.
- Value of a Petco eGift Card is applied to the total purchase, including shipping and tax. eGift Cards cannot be redeemed for cash, except where redeemable by law.
- Any unused balance will remain on your Petco eGift Card for future use.

Orders Placed Through a 3rd Party
Purchases may be returned to a Petco store for store credit. When returning an order purchased through a third party such as Amazon.com, Google Checkout, Buy.com, Checkout by Amazon or SHOP.COM to petco.com, the applicable credit will be applied to your original form of payment.
Please note that discounts and assortment available on petco.com may not always be available for orders placed through a third party. Sorry, Google Checkout and Checkout by Amazon cannot be used for orders shipping to P.O. Boxes.
Shopping Cart
Filling your Shopping Cart with all kinds of irresistible pet products is easy. Here's how:
- Add a product to your Shopping Cart by entering a Quantity and clicking "Add to Cart" or "Schedule Repeat Delivery" on a product page.
- To buy multiple quantities of an item in your Shopping Cart, simply increase the number in the appropriate "Quantity" box.
- Click "Update" to save the changes you made.
To view items in your Shopping Cart, click the "View Cart" button at the top of any page.
To remove an item from your Shopping Cart, click on “Remove” below the Quantity box. When you remove an item, its price is automatically deducted from your total cost. You can also remove an item by changing the quantity of that item to zero and then clicking "Update."
