Educating Responsible Pet Parents
We are a responsible retailer and therefore seek to ensure companion animals find homes where quality life-long pet ownership is a reality and the highest degree of the human-animal bond may be achieved. In addition to helping individuals make appropriate decisions when selecting companion animals that are right for their lifestyles, we aim to support pet parents throughout the lives of their companion animals.
Educating prospective pet parents is a primary responsibility of our store associates.
- We offer Animal Care Sheets that provide information including the amount of space and type of habitat needed for the animal throughout its life span, as well as the nutritional, exercise and social needs of the animal. We regularly review and update our Care Sheets with the assistance and approval of our staff and consulting veterinarians. Due to the importance of this information, this is an ongoing process to ensure we are providing our customers with the best and most current information on animal care.
- We also encourage and recommend that prospective and current companion animal owners draw on other information resources on care, including books and online sources - and make suggestions as to which might be most useful, as appropriate.
- To ensure the right match is made between companion animal and owner, we have a 14-day return policy. After that 14-day period, we work with local adoptive organizations to find a home for a companion animal, whose owner has recognized that the demands of care are difficult to meet in his or her lifestyle.
