Your ferret will benefit from safe, comfortable furniture in its cage. Ferrets do not need very much in the way of furniture, but they will be very happy with a few simple pieces. Examples of hammocks and other pieces of furniture are listed below.

While these pieces can be purchased, they are also easily made using the same materials as the commercial versions. The best hammocks are fleece-lined, machine washable and easy to clip on to wire cages. The following are some hammocks that are perfect places for ferrets to enjoy "hanging out" and sleeping. Hanging sacks are similar to hammocks.

• Sleeping boxes are especially appropriate for the few ferrets that do chew on hammocks, hanging sacks or sleep sacks. The boxes are usually wood or plastic with an access hole in one side.

All of the above items are designed to make your pets more comfortable, especially for the time they spend in their cage. Also, the materials from which the items are made are durable, machine washable and not something ferrets are likely to chew. Keep in mind the fact that ferrets are very social animals and won't mind sharing the furniture in their cage.
