At the same time that you assemble your first aid kit for your new pet, you will want to print out the following and write in your veterinarian's and local numbers you may need and place the listing beside your telephone.

The National Animal Poison Control Center's 24 hour Poison Hotline number is: (888) 4-ANIHELP (426-4435). A consultation fee may apply.

When you call, be prepared to provide the following information about your pet:

  • Age
  • Weight
  • Sex
  • Breed
  • The condition and/or symptoms your pet is experiencing
If your pet ingested anything that might be causing a problem, be certain to have the product and ingredients on the label available to give to the Poison Hotline.
