Seed Bells and Seed Sticks

Seed bells or seed sticks should be used as treats and should make up only 10 percent of your pet's diet. Many bird owners use these treats as the main dietary source. If you try to base your bird's entire diet on bells or sticks, you will inhibit good nutrition.

Most birds find these treats quite tasty and will enjoy them in moderation. However, you should be wary of the ingredients when you are buying them. Some manufacturers use additives, preservatives, colorings and flavorings. Many colorings and flavorings are synthetic chemicals, and although definitive links to medical disorders have not been made, you should think twice before feeding your bird an unknown chemical.
